Teachers Pay Award update wef September 2023

The 2023 School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document (STPCD) has now been published. This is statutory guidance for LA maintained schools in England, although many academies and multi-academy trusts also comply with it.

It is being laid to parliament for 21 days and should come into force on 3 November 2023 when it will replace the current 2022/23 version.

An increase of 6.5% will be applied on all pay points except for M1 which is an increase of 7.1% to give a minimum starting salary of £30,000 per annum.

It is up to the Employer to decide to go ahead and process the pay award in November.

All pay uplifts will be back-dated to 1 September 2023.

Support Staff Pay Award update

The National Employers made a full and final offer on 23 February 2023, with effect from 1 April 2023, an increase of £1,925 (pro rata for part time employees) to be paid as a consolidated, permanent addition to all NJC pay points, and an increase of 3.88 per cent on all allowances.

The unions met on 19 September to discuss the employers’ full and final pay offer and agreed to reconvene for further discussions after GMB’s strike ballots close, which opened on 12 September and close on 24 October.

Despite this delay, the National Employers continue to advise very strongly against imposing any pay offer before the collective bargaining process has concluded.
