Keeping Children Safe in Education 2026 was published on 7th July 2026. This has retained many of the changes proposed in the consultation document published earlier this year, however there are also some additional inclusions.
The information sharing guidance has been expanded in anticipation of the introduction of the Information Sharing Duty. The safer recruitment guidance has also been amended to reflect the changes to regulated activity to removing the ‘supervision exemption’.
Other significant changes included in the consultation document, such as the inclusion about children’s mental health and also children who are questioning their gender, remain.
Schools are reminded to use Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025 until 31st August 2026. The revised statutory guidance comes into force from 1st September 2026.
