The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, more commonly known as Martyn’s Law, has now received Royal Assent and will become law on 1 April 2027. This law will apply to settings who expect to have at least 200 individuals (in the case of schools and colleges this includes staff, children and parents) present at the same time at least occasionally.
To support organisations to prepare for this law the DfE and Home Office have produced factsheets and training materials. There are also some third party training providers charging for guidance and training in this area. Schools should be aware that the DfE and Home Office do not endorse any third-party products of providers. Further guidance and resources are expected to be published by the Regulator and Government. In the meantime here are some resources currently available:
