On the 7th October 2024, Schools’ Choice enjoyed working in partnership with Suffolk County Council and the Suffolk Safeguarding Partnership as we hosted the 2024 Safeguarding Conference, attended by over 100 safeguarding leads from schools across Suffolk.

A jam-packed agenda included a powerful opening presentation from children at local schools, Langer and Felixstowe Academy. We were honoured to hear keynote speeches from Senior HMI Ofsted Paul Wilson, talking about Evaluating Safeguarding on Inspection, and Professor Emma Bond, Pro-Vice Chancellor Research and Knowledge Exchange, University of Suffolk, talking about children and online safety, and that was just the morning!

In the afternoon, the conference resumed with various speakers covering a range of other key safeguarding issues, including self-harm, suicidal tendencies, harmful sexual behaviour and Prevent.

Filmed copies of the presentations should be available on the Suffolk Safeguarding Partnership website in due course.

The event received overwhelmingly positive feedback, including:

Best safeguarding conference I’ve been to”

A fantastic day, including a great opportunity to network with other colleagues. Lots of feedback will be given to colleagues in school.”
