The service offers a comprehensive range of governance training courses, workshops and seminars covering all aspects of school governance. There is something to suit everyone, whether you are new to governance or have been in your role for many years.

We can help you to understand your role and responsibility as a school governor or trustee, and equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to carry out your role effectively. 

Our training courses are designed to reflect the DfE’s Governance Handbook and Competency Framework, covering every aspect of the role but can also be flexible, and tailored to meet the specific needs of your school and board. Our training is divided into four categories:  

• Essential Governance – covering the basics for new governors and trustees
• Developing Governance – a range of topics to choose from as you develop your role 
• Named Governance – for governors and trustees with a specific role on the board such as safeguarding
• Current Governance – keeping you up to date with the latest developments
