New to the Designated Safeguarding Lead Role

If you are new to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) role, or preparing to take on DSL responsibilities, this course will give you a clear and practical introduction to what the role involves.
What will you learn?

During the course, you will explore:
• Your role and responsibilities as a DSL
• Key safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance
• How to recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns
• Referrals, thresholds and working with other agencies
• Recording concerns, decision-making and information sharing
• The importance of the child’s voice
• Child-on-child abuse and online safety
• Attendance and children who may be missing from education
• Managing concerns about adults working with children
• How to support a strong safeguarding culture in your setting
You will also work through practical case studies and scenarios so you can apply your learning to real safeguarding situations.
